Several times while snorkeling at Las Catalinas, including three times last week, I have encountered one of these little fellows. He/she is a juvenile golden trevally. They get to be, like, huge. But the ones I encounter are always this exact same size. Once they find me, they will follow me forever. They will swim just in the bow wave or slipstream of whatever part of me is farthest forward. In this case, my hand. In other cases, my dive mask. They are so cute! They seem so devoted to me! I can’t bear to get out of the water and leave them behind!
